Becky Pengilly

11+ Tutor

This introductory course is to encourage Year 4 pupils to develop skills that are useful in their future 11+ as well as in their day-to-day life at school.

English

We explore exciting ways to increase vocabulary knowledge and identify those more challenging 'Inference' Comprehension questions. Drama and role-play may be used as a learning device on occasions.

Verbal Reasoning

An introduction to a range of Verbal Reasoning type questions and codes that are used in the GL Assessment.

Maths

In maths the children will use practical activities to decipher the steps needed to solve word problems that include units of measurement, money and time.  This increases their confidence and understanding. (Word problems are often identified as a challenging area for many pupils in Key Stage Two).

Non-verbal Reasoning

Finally, the children will create a visual map in preparation of their Non-verbal Reasoning focus on our next course after Easter.
